Affliction, pain, mind and…….heal?
In a world full of surgeries, pills, severe diseases that in some cases
are terminal and others not. thus to fight those diseases, there is a less
painful and perhaps more effective method than the classic one, it is called
alternative medicine which is more feasible and viable in most cases; however,
it is up to each one to judge it but not before getting informed about that
marvel of treatment.
The alternative medicine covers many treatments, among them is the yoga
that consists of performing various physical postures to channel our energies
helping our body and mind to relax and take off the daily pressure preventing
psychological illnesses such as depression and it is derivatives; the acupuncture
that has almost the same effect, herbal home remedies, placebo effect,
naturopathic medicine, among others, in this case we will give greater emphasis
to these last two in order to understand and know better alternative medicine.
Henry K. Beecher (1904-1976), pioneer of the practice of the placebo
effect in his article "The powerful of placebo" published in 1955,
indicates that the placebo effect consists in consuming inactive substances
such as sugar, distilled water, candies, among other substances that the
patient likes to ingest, but believing that these are going to cure him or make
him feel better, it means, it is a psychological treatment. For this treatment
to be effective it is necessary that the patient has the expectation that it
will be useful, well as I mention it is a psychological treatment that works
only if the patient has the expectation that he will cure his illnesses with
it. On other hand, as is well known, every cause has their consequences, in
this case the placebo effect has certain consequences in their use because in
some cases some patients tend to have negative reactions such as anxiety, as
long as the patient makes excessive use of the placebo effect.
As second point we are going to take the naturopathic medicine, it cover
many treatments like massages, herbs, acupuncture, exercises, yoga and
nutritional advices from naturopath doctors who are authorized by the American
Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), all this for help the body heal
itself through natural methods, the main goal of naturopathic medicine is treat
the person as a whole, it means, mind, body and spirit, also it try to heal the
causes of the disease and not only the symptoms.
This two treatments according to National University of Natural
Medicine, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and Boucher
Institute of Naturopathic Medicine are good for help to heal some diseases,
even those that seem incurable.
Finally basing me in several sources, I can to say that alternative
medicine is good and it have the power of remedy some failures within us such
as many psychological and physical illnesses, the alternative medicine has a
great quantity of properties, only depend of you use it or not.
